Frequently Asked Questions
Can people of different religious backgrounds be married here?
Yes. Sponsored by The Swedenborgian Church the Wayfarers Chapel provides a ministry to people from all religious backgrounds. There is no formal membership. All wayfarers are welcome.
May I have my own minister?
Chapel ministers conduct all services. You may invite your minister, priest or rabbi to participate in your wedding ceremony. We emphasize the word “participate” because the Chapel minister will conduct the majority of your wedding ceremony. Have your clergy contact one of the Chapel ministers so that the role of your clergy is clearly defined.
Is there a waiting list?
There is no waiting list. You reserve a day and time that best meets your needs. Weddings are scheduled on even hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and on Sundays from 2 p.m.
How much time do I have for my wedding?
Two hours. We want you to have the full enjoyment of the Chapel and surrounding gardens. Because your wedding is so special we ask you to arrive no earlier than one hour before your scheduled wedding time. The marriage service is about 15-20 minutes long. Following pictures you then plan your departure for an hour following your scheduled time. This way we can respect everyone’s time.
How many people will the Chapel hold?
The Chapel will accommodate up to 100 guests. If you are planning more guests please invite them to the reception only.
How many attendants may we have?
Due to the size of the Chapel we recommend no more than four on each side.
Are we allowed to decorate the Chapel?
The Chapel is already decorated for you so you do not need to provide any flowers or other decorations. The altar and chancel have seasonal white flowers except during December when red poinsettias grace the front of the Chapel.
Is there a bride’s room?
We provide a dressing room for the bride and her attendants.
May I have my reception there?
There are no facilities for receptions. We will be glad to guide you to the many facilities that are available within a short distance from the Chapel.
