Celebration Lights
Let Your Light Shine
You are invited to sponsor a Celebration Light for the Wayfarers Chapel gardens.
In 1988, when the 125 pathway lights were installed, Eric Lloyd Wright described the lights as “so many fireflies twinkling in the darkness.” The lamps provide light along the pathways adding their brilliance to the inspirational setting. Today more light is needed to illumine the gardens and other areas developed over the years.
To meet this need the Chapel has designed a program to provide lighting that will enhance the garden setting of the Chapel. Using the same design of copper hoods with a green patina finish resembling plants growing out of their surrounding foliage, the low-voltage Celebration Lights blend well with the present pathway lights. They also reflect the same design as found in the Chapel roof. Lights have already been installed in the Forest Floor Garden and the gardens around the Visitors Center. As new Celebration Lights are sponsored, they will be placed in the Rose Garden next to the Chapel.
You are invited to sponsor a Celebration Light that marks a special event in your life such as a marriage, the birth of a child, a special happening or event in your life, a baptism, a memorial, a friendship or as a simple act of generosity.
The contribution for a Celebration Light is $375. All contributions are tax-deductible. In appreciation of your gift we inscribe your names and the year of your special celebration on a brass plaque mounted on the copper hood of your light. Your names will also be entered in the Chapel’s Book of Remembrance on display in the Visitors Center and on a map so that you can always know the exact location of your light.
