Visitors Guidelines

For the health and safety of our staff, our visitors, and our community, Wayfarers Chapel is temporarily closed to the public. We will update this message when we have more information about when we will be able to reopen to visitors.

The Chapel, grounds, Visitors Center, and administration office are closed to the public at this time. Our Reservations office is available by phone during to arrange for new reservations and to answer questions about existing reservations.


The Chapel and grounds are open daily from 9am – 5pm.

The Visitors Center is open daily from 10am – 5pm.


There is no fee associated with visiting the Chapel, however, donations are welcome and encouraged. Donations go to the life, ministry, and upkeep of the Chapel and grounds.


The sanctuary is closed to the public during private ceremonies (weddings, baptisms, and memorial services). During private ceremonies, visitors are welcome to enjoy our gardens and Visitors Center. You can call the Visitors Center before visiting to check our daily event schedule at (310) 377-1650 x2.


In the spirit of respecting that the Chapel is a sacred space, only service dogs that are specifically trained to aid someone with a disability are permitted inside the Chapel. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, and companion animals are not considered to be service animals under the ADA.


Group Visits and Tours

Due to the number of events we have here at the Chapel, any group of visitors over 15 people must be put on our schedule in advance.

Guided group tours of the Chapel and grounds may be arranged on Mondays at 10 am. To schedule your group tour, please call the Visitors Center 1 (310) 377-1650 Ext 2. A contribution of $3 per person is required for a guided tour.


Photography and Videography

Wayfarers Chapel is strictly a  N O   D R O N E   Z O N E !

Photography and videography for your personal use only is welcome and encouraged.

Any professional photography or videography must have prior authorization and permit.

Wedding photography (including any photography in wedding attire) is restricted to couples who are getting married at the Chapel during their scheduled wedding timeframe. Couples who have fully confirmed a wedding here will not be charged for an engagement shoot, but still must schedule a time and get a permit.

If you are interested in taking any professional photos on the Chapel grounds (including family portraits, engagement photos, landscape/nature photography, etc.) you will need a reservation. We schedule these sessions up to a month in advance. Monday only is the day assigned for this type of photography. Reservations are for up to one hour with a $250 contribution. You are required to observe the following: no wedding attire and no photos inside the Chapel. Your contribution will be collected at the Visitors Center when you check in to receive your permit prior to the start of your photo shoot.

Movie, Television & Commercial Use

The Wayfarers Chapel has appeared in many movies, music videos, and television shows. Film and photography site location managers are welcome to visit and explore the use of the Chapel and grounds for film, television and commercial use. Community Events & Services

Wayfarers Chapel invites you to participate in the various worship services and community events offered throughout the year. Special events include concerts, lectures, workshops, and classes. Special worship services are New Year’s Renewal service, Palm Sunday Pageant, Easter Sunrise service, Easter services, Marriage Renewal service, Blessing of the Animals service, Raising of the Advent Wreath service, Carols & Candles service, and Christmas Eve services. Tickets to special events, if required, can be purchased at the Visitors Center (310) 377-1650 Ext. 2.

The Wayfarers Chapel was designed as a place where wayfarers could stop to rest, meditate, and give thanks to God. An estimated 500,000 wayfarers visit the Chapel each year to experience its beauty. Whether you are local or from across the globe, the Chapel is a wonderful spot to pull off the road and enjoy the beauty of creation. We have received the “Travelers’ Choice Award” (previously the “Certificate of Excellence”) from Tripadvisor each year since 2014 and we are number one on their list of things to do in Rancho Palos Verdes.
